First Birthday Family Session
As the time passes and we get more comfortable sharing our family moments with strangers it is time to do family session. Capture those family moments along with love within them.
First birthday is the perfect time to do so. Celebrating this occasion with closest family members might be different then before pandemic. I’m grateful that I could be a part Christine, Ken and little Cooper day.
All being vaccinated and safe we can take advantage of upcoming summer to picture family in more casual and lifestyle way. Christina and Ken decided to take photos in nearby arboretum but the weather made other plans for them and me.
Despite this we had plenty of fun playing around and fulfilling korean traditions.
Picturing Family Life
It was 2016 When I first met Christine and Ken. They were so fun to take photos of. Their IKEA engagement session will be featured on my website for ever. They are playful, candid and genuine without sacrificing good style. They were jumping on the bed in Ikea, pretending they have a miring coffee in a stage kitchen. Just see for yourself.
Next to come was their wedding in Tyler Arboretum in 2017. Christine remembered well that that day it also rained a bit. It was not any obstacle for them to have a beautiful wedding and a lot of laughs.
Fast forward to 2021 we meet again. I can’t express how lucky I feel to be still able to capture their smiles and love.
This time with one change. Cooper just became one. What a great idea to take family photos and even smash the cake.
The whole family took part in the preparations. Beautiful traditional outfits, made the day even more special.
Family Portraits
the photo day wouldn’t be complete without some more casual photos of Cooper with his parents. We found some good spots in the house to wander around and capture some candid and some posted photos of just three of them.
If you would be thinking to take photos of your family at home my advice is to prepare two or three different spaces with good window light. Good spot would be also a plain big light or dark wall to that we could use for some more calm and classy portraits.
Birthday cake and Smash the cake Photos
Birthday would not be complete without the cake. It is a great idea to use this time for smash the cake photos as well. You can use the whole cake for more dramatic effect but well cut piece is also perfect.
It might be the first time that your child will have that amount of sugar, so think it through. Although smash the cake photos will be great it is not a must. There are plenty other opportunities to take cute photos.
Christine & Ken – Thank you so much for allowing me to be a part of this special for your and family day. Congratulations and I hope to be a witness of Cooper growing up! 🙂
